Iceland poppy

Description

This is hardy but short-lived perennial that grows large, papery, bowl-shaped flowers. Flowers can be yellow, orange, pink, or white. The stem is hairy and curved.

Distribution

Prefers light, well-drained soil, full sun, and cooler climates. It is commonly cultivated in gardens.

Toxin

Toxic alkaloids, specifically the benzophenanthidine alkaloid chelidonine, which is contained in all parts of the plant

Restlessness, excitement, incoordination, spasms, falling
